LEED DESIGN
LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is a series of rating systems that evaluate and measure the intention and performance of a building as green. There are five major areas of performance including water efficiency, sustainable site development, materials, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality. A sustainable site commonly describes a landscape that supports environmental quality and conservation of natural resources. A well-designed sustainable landscape reflects a high level of self-sufficiency. Once established, it should grow and mature virtually on its own, as if nature had planted it. Although sustainable landscapes may appear more natural and less manicured, they still rely on all the standard design principles to create a visually appealing combination of plants and materials.
